Annual Cocktail Party - September 2009
At the recent Cocktail Party hosted by Loughborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce at the Priory Hotel and Bistro, a host of members, guests and new members met to socialize and network. The evening proved popular, as always, with over 70 people attending.
The chamber was pleased to be joined by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Jennifer Lady Gretton, and by The Worshipful The Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Roy Brown and the Mayoress, Mrs. Gillian Brown.
In a short speech, chamber President Paul Fileman commented on the economic outlook for Loughborough – urging those present to keep on promoting Loughborough. He also presented a cheque for £250 to Charnwood Borough Council Mayor's Appeal.
As the chamber plans its continued development for 2010 and members start to consider how best to grow their businesses, the Cocktail evening proved to be a useful addition to the business networking for businesses from Loughborough and the local area.
Commenting on the evening, Chamber President Paul Fileman said: “Our members keep telling me that they value events such as the Cocktail evening. Judging by the turn-out and the amount of networking going on, people made excellent use of the evening.”
Mr Fileman added: “We have a great deal to be proud of in Loughborough. The evening was a great chance for some of the best businesses in Loughborough to get together with our guests from the council, the University and other bodies.”
Notes
The current Mayor's Appeal is split between "Warning Zone" which is a Safety Education Centre providing a unique interactive learning environment where 10/11 year olds learn how to be safe and understand about personal responsibility. The other charity is "Wishes 4 Kids" which was created to grant a wish for children and young people in Leicestershire who are life limited, terminally ill or have experienced physical or emotional traumas.
